Video game developer DICE and publisher Electronic Arts are ready to offer fans of Battlefield 4 a lot of details about the upcoming Naval Strike downloadable content for the first-person shooter and the new game mode it will include.

The team states in the announcement that, "Blow open a crashed passenger plane and capture fishing villages across the tropical Lost Islands. Drop a submarine on your foes as you infiltrate a naval base or rush between shipping docks and rocky islands on the massive Wave Breaker map."

Gamers will be able to get access to four entirely new multiplayer maps that are all set in the South China Sea, called Lost Islands, Nansha Strike, Wave Breaker and Operation Mortar.

Players can also use four weapons that are designed to work in the new combat situations, which the companies are not yet willing to name, and a hovercraft is being added to Battlefield 4 in order to deliver more tactical mobility.

The two new items included are the 3GL attachment for the Assault class and the Anti-Heli Mine, a special projectile to take out aircraft at low heights for the Engineer.

Naval Strike for Battlefield 4 will also introduce a new Carrier Assault game mode, which is based on the old Titan mode that DICE created for the older Battlefield 2142.

Gamers can also experience 10 new assignments, each of them with their own unlockable content.

DICE adds, "Secure 2 weeks early access to Naval Strike by going Premium. Premium also grants you access to 4 additional expansion packs, 12 Battlepacks, weekly exclusive content, priority position in server queues, and much more."

Battlefield 4 had a number of problems when it was launched, but most of them have been eliminated via patches and publisher Electronic Arts says that the bugs have not affected the overall sales of the title.
